Springfield
High School Alumni Assoc., Inc.
Thank
you to all who have contributed to our newsletter and to all the folks who have
helped us to make SHSAA one of the most active high school alumni associations
around. Your contributions will help us continue this format. Individuals and
classes are welcome to write articles to be included in next year's issue. Please,
let us hear from you out there, this is your opportunity to tell all Alumni
members your news.
Class
of `68 At It Again
(And
this time they're
taking
`67 with them . . .)
The
35th reunion of the class of 1968 was a huge success.
Each time we get together, somebody who has never attended makes it to
the gathering and wonders why they waited so long to join in the fun! Many
travel cross-country to take part in the festivities.
Due
to everyone's busy schedules, we have had to scale down the size of the floats
in recent years, but we still manage to be creative and ha e a great time doing
it. Last year's efforts won the class a $100 First Place in the Most Artistic
category.
With
the summer of 2004 being the 50th anniversary of the
Alumni Association, we are joining forces with the class of 1967 to help mark
the occasion. We will build a float to enter in the parade, and we will
organize a cookout at Fergie's. No big bucks, just big fun! Details
will be sent to you in the Spring. Remember to keep June 18th
and 19th free so that you can attend! (You might
want to plan on the 20th, too, just for resting!)
Contact
Keith or Mary MacMahan for more information.

Years of Memories
About
45 members of our class celebrated our 30th reunion in
June 2003. Bill Flore, Linda Bobar, Karen Sheehan, Charlie Barnard, Terry
Coleman, Chip Amaya, and myself worked on our float, which was a singing, dancing
Uncle Sam. We won a banner for second place - Most Humorous.
After
the parade, we headed to a picnic at the Ferguson Farm in the afternoon, followed
by dinner and dancing to a live band. One of our classmates, Lisa Lindner,
who moved away in our junior year, has moved back to Vermont. We were
happy to see Lisa at our reunion to renew old friendships. How about planning
on coming to our next anniversary reunion in 2008? We would love to see
you!
We
are missing addresses for several of our classmates. If you correspond
with any member of our class and think we may need their address, please send
it to me via email: mbingham@vermontel.net. I will update both our list of addresses
and the Alumni Association database.
If
you just can't wait until 2008, come join us this summer to celebrate
the Springfield Alumni Association's 50th Anniversary.
Hope to see you there!

Class
of `79 Celebrates 25 Years
Plans
are underway for the 25th reunion of the S.H.S. Class of 1979. Janet (Monroe)
Snow, Cathy Brusseau, and Jeanine Farnsworth, among others, have already reserved
the Crown Point Country Club for the reunion dinner and dance. The reunion
planning group is meeting regularly in Springfield to set up the event and to
plan other activities, such as the class entry in the 50th Annual Alumni Day
Parade.
Also
in preparation for the reunion, Sue Dufresne and Kim Abbott have been updating
the class address list provided by the S.H.S. Alumni Association. They
have also been thinking of fun trivia and games to keep your mind sharp because
most of it happened 25 years ago! We all want to make this a reunion that
won't be forgotten so if you have any fresh ideas, suggestions, or just want
to help, and you live near Springfield, please join the planning group. If
you are out of the area, but have ideas or address information on any classmates,
please send them to Sue or Kim.
One
last thought: Remember signing the yearbook and writing “We will be friends
forever”? Now is a good time to come back and see your “forever” friends.
It will be fun, like being freshman in life, with stories to tell, pictures
to show and take, hugs and smiles to share, but it won't happen without YOU!
No matter how far away you are, do your best to celebrate “The Past, Present,
and Future” in the year 2004!

Class
of `81 Planning 50thAlumni Day Float
After
a fun and memorable weekend together in 2001 for our 20th, we are already looking
forward to 2006 for our 25th. But who wants to wait that long? The
answer: Not us! Several members of the Class of `81 are already starting
to make plans for a very special 50th celebration float. Though not an
official reunion year for us, this is a wonderful opportunity for a “midterm”
get-together, and we hope to have as many classmates as possible involved in
the design and creation of our float.
Of
course, the weekend will hold lots of opportunities to be together. Sure,
there will be the chance meetings at the local watering holes, but how about
a Class of `81 team in the Golf Tournament? Do you have a canoe or kayak?
Represent your class in the Canoe Races (or just come to cheer!) Help
finish the float Friday night. Walk with us Saturday morning. And don't
forget to make your reservations for the Alumni Banquet Friday night.
We
hope you are able to come
home
and celebrate 50 years of the Alumni Association and all the
“Eighty
- One - der - ful” years of the Class of `81. Please contact: Lori (Locke) Knox
(802-885-4720 or loriknox@aol.com) or Nanci (Higgins) Paul (802-885-8218 or
snpaul@vermontel.net) to get involved
See
you in June!.
