Our Scholarship funds include the R.N.. Millett Scholarship Fund, established in 1956, the David Bruce Scholarship Fund, established in 2000 to honor longtime Alumni Association President and trustee, David "Skip" Bruce; the Maurice J. O'Leary Scholarship Fund, transferred by Springfield Schools in June 2005 to our organization; the Christine Lawlor Scholarship Fund, assumed by the Association in 2006, as well as the newly acquired Henry and Mary Paul Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The R.N. Millett Scholarship Fund is our main scholarship and was established when the S.H.S.A.A was formed, in recognition of the thirty-four year principal of Springfield High School. In 2006, three scholarships of $2,000 each were awarded to S.H.S graduates.

The Maurice J. O'Leary Scholarship Fund was set up in the early 1960's in memory of Dr. O'Leary after his untimely death at age 57. Dr. O'Leary was SHS principal from 1944 to 1957 and Superintendent of Schools from 1957 to 1960. The Class of 1961 yearbook was dedicated to him with the inscription "To a man who never ceased his efforts to give us the best possible education."Dr. O'Leary was an outstanding educational leader, he was highly regarded in the community and by those who worked with him as well as those under his leadership. Please help us as we endeavor to support his memory.

The Christine Lawlor Scholarship was created by friends and colleagues of Ms. Lawlor, a former business teacher at Springfield High School and the Technical Center at Springfield (now known as River Valley Technical Center). Ms. Lawlor was a beloved and devoted teacher and friend to many of her students throughout her tenure. She encouraged and mentored her students in their career and post-secondary endeavors; therefore, recipients of this scholarship are selected and based on their interest in business education and their desire to continue their education in that field at the college level.
The Robert and Mary Paul Memorial Scholarship Fund was turned over to S.H.S alumni by the family after having managed and replenishing the fund themselves for fifteen years. This fund is given in the memory of their parents, providing a $,1000.00. scholarship each year to a deserving student of that year's graduating class.

We appreciate the continued support of our members. We are a 501c)3 non-profit organization which means that all contributions to our funds are tax deductible. Some classes choose to commemorate their anniversaries with a donating to either scholarship fund, others donate their float prize monies. Our goal is to eventually become self-sustaining with the principal invested and scholarships awarded from income on our investments. If you are looking for a tax deductible contribution prior to year-end, please remember your hometown association and help us to help our SHS graduates in their post-secondary endeavors.
